SEASON OF LENT: For a long time (since mid 300) the Christian Church has taken special note of the forty days leading up to Easter. Originally it was a time in which new converts to the Christian faith were instructed and prepared for their baptism. For those who already were baptized, the forty days of Lent was a time to refocus and remember one’s life-walk with Christ.

This year my Lent/Easter messages continue the tradition of refocusing and remembering our walk with the Lord. I will walk through John’s Gospel, listening for the repeated ways in which Jesus revealed Himself as:  “I am The…(Bread of Life, Light of the World, Good Shepherd, The True Vine)” images.

AM:  Message: I am the Bread of Life

        Scripture Reading: John 6:25-59

Jesus used a variety of images drawn from everyday life as experienced by His listeners to reveal His true identity. Bread sustains and nourishes life. Jesus is the Bread sent from heaven to give life to those who “feed” on him. He still does.

PM: God Wins Revelation Series. Chapters 8-11 Seven Trumpets of Judgment.
